Skrootiny emphesises security by enhancing their Website Penetration Testing
"Security issues, vulnerabilities, bot nets and recent hacking attempts have brought website security to the public eye and it's about time" says Skrootiny's Head of digital services Michael Pengelly.
Recently there have been many public attacks carried out on systems which tend to have very similar security issues, the most recent attack was carried out on a version of Wordpress by a hugh network called a BotNet.
Security is massively underestimated and it is causing many websites and their users to encounter problems. Some of these problems are small in the overall scale, but a few small vulnerabilities can lead to a larger loophole which a professional attacker could exploit.
So why do these problems arise? Surely they should not exist in the first place.. ?
"I completely agree", said Michael, "Most of the problems arise from the massive constraints that are placed on developers nowadays. In the past developers could take some time over their code, perform proper testing and take complete ownership. However, over the last 10 years there has been a massive difference in the working practices for developers. Tight budgets, very tight time restrictions, being switched from one project to another to satify time and costs all mean that the projects don't always get completed to the level they should be and vulnerabilities could creep in. This could mean that a simple check that should have been done, could result in the entire server being taken over or the users being exploited."
"We aim to help rectify this by implementing our changes to the Wesite Penetration Testing package to make it a more comprehensive test. We check all the items you don't want to and even the items you might have never even thought of. We perform our penetration tests on websites every day and the report we produce at the end of our tests provide information on how best to rectify."
So, a test today could help you to save, your website, your business, your customers and your data in the future. Don't let yourself be the one saying "we should have run a test" after you get attacked, stop the attackers before they even get a chance.
