Website need to work on many web browsers and currently the latest 3 versions of most browsers are still around in some form so your website should be ready to serve your visitors on multiple platforms.

Not everybody writes code anymore for all browsers and that's understandable however there are still certain browsers which should be tested and have failsafes in place.
